Phalanges: Location and Number of Bones in Fingers & Toes

The phalanges are the bones of the fingers and toes. There are 14 phalanges in each hand, and 28 in each foot. Each finger has three phalanges, called proximal, middle, and distal, while each toe has two phalanges, called proximal and distal.
