Skull Sutures: How They Fuse and Develop

The sutures fuse the bones of the skull. Sutures are immovable joints that unite the edges of bones in the skull. Sutures allow some expansion of the skull but as we age (as adults) sutures become completely solid or ossified to form the immovable joints found in adult skulls of human and animals.
