Ankle bones are also known as tarsal bones.
The scientific names of ankle bones are:
- Talus - the highest tarsal bone, it forms the ankle joint with the tibia and fibula.
- Calcaneus - the largest tarsal bone, also known as the heel bone.
- Navicular bone - a small bone located on the medial side of the foot.
- Cuboid bone - a small bone located on the lateral side of the foot.
- Cuneiforms - three small bones located between the navicular and metatarsal bones.
