What are the procedures of making fracture bed?
Fracture Bed Procedure:1. Wash your hands: Before and after making the fracture bed.
2. Prepare the bed:
- Raise the head of the bed to a comfortable height for the patient.
- Position the fracture board or frame under the mattress
- Cover with a fitted sheet, top sheet, and blanket.
3. Place a pillow under the patient's head: This helps to keep their head in a neutral position.
4. Place the pillows:
- Place a pillow under the the affected limb, extending from the shoulder to the wrist
- Place a pillow under the unaffected leg to prevent external rotation of the hip
5. Secure the fractured limb:
- Use pillows or rolled up blankets to support and immobilize the limb
6. Cover the patient: Tuck in the sheets and blankets to keep the patient warm and comfortable.
