Average Blood Loss During Menstruation: What's Normal?
The amount of blood released during a period can vary from woman to woman and from period to period. On average, women lose between 30 and 40 milliliters (mL) of blood during a period, which is about 2 to 3 tablespoons. However, some women may lose more or less blood than this.It is important to note that heavy menstrual bleeding, defined as losing more than 80 mL of blood per period, can be a sign of an underlying medical condition and should be evaluated by a healthcare professional.
