Normal Range:Adults: 2.5-7.5 x 10^9/L (2500-7500 cells/µL)
Children 1-12 years: 1.5-8.0 x 10^9/L (1500-8000 cells/µL)
Newborn: 9-30 x 10^9/L (9000-30,000 cells/µL)
High:
- Infection (bacterial)
- Chronic inflammatory disease (autoimmune disease)
- Tissue damage/necrosis
- Malignancies (acute leukemia, chronic myeloid leukemia)
- Splenectomy
- Steroid use
- Stress
Low:
- Viral infections
- Sepsis (very high or very low)
- Aplastic anemia
- Bone marrow failure
- Chemotherapy
