Swine Flu and Public Water Fountains: What You Need to Know
Swine flu is not transmitted through water. The virus that causes swine flu, influenza A H1N1, is spread through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or talks. You can catch swine flu by breathing in these droplets, or by touching something that has the virus on it and then touching your face.
Therefore, swine flu cannot be passed onto another person from a public water fountain.
