The Black Death and Antisemitism: Separating Fact from Fiction

There is no evidence linking the Black Death to antisemitism. The Black Death was caused by a bacteria, Yersinia pestis. It was called "black" because of the dark scabs that formed on the skin of infected individuals. The Black Death was not caused by Jews, or any other specific group of people.
