Lower Back Pinched Nerve: Symptoms, Causes & Relief
A pinched nerve in the lower spine is caused by a weakened or torn disc that presses on the nerve, resulting in symptoms in the lower legs (below the knee) and/or the feet.-
Pain

You may experience a burning or sharp pain that may extend into your lower legs and feet, and the pain can become worse when coughing or sneezing.
Numbness

Your lower legs or feet may become numb or you may have a decrease in sensation in them from a pinched nerve in the lower spine.
Tingling

You may feel a "pins and needles" tingling sensation in your lower legs or feet from the pinched nerve.
Muscle Weakness/Twitching

A lower-spine pinched nerve also can result in muscle weakness in your lower legs or feet, depending on which disc is involved. You may also experience muscle twitching.
Considerations

Your symptoms may be worse when you are sleeping. If symptoms persist for more than a few days you should see your physician.
