Pilonidal Cyst: Symptoms, Causes, and Treatment

A painful bump on the top of your butt crack could be a pilonidal cyst. Pilonidal cysts are small, round sacs that form in the skin near the top of the butt crack. They are usually filled with pus or fluid and can be very painful. Pilonidal cysts are often caused by ingrown hairs or trauma to the area, such as from sitting or lying down for a long period of time.
