Can someone have more than one autism spectrum disorder?
Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech, and nonverbal communication, as well as by unique strengths and differences. It varies in severity and presentation, and each individual with autism spectrum disorder has their unique strengths and challenges.
In general, an autistic person does not have multiple distinct autism spectrum disorders, but rather a unique combination of symptoms that fall within the autism spectrum. While different diagnoses under the autism spectrum describe different presentations or variations in symptoms, it's not common to have totally separate diagnoses of different autism spectrum disorders.
