Understanding Cluster C Personality Disorders: Anxiety & Fear
Cluster C personality disorders are characterized by anxious or fearful behavior. They include:
- Avoidant personality disorder: People with avoidant personality disorder are extremely shy and inhibited. They avoid social interaction because they fear rejection, criticism, or embarrassment.
- Dependent personality disorder: People with dependent personality disorder need excessive reassurance and support from others. They have difficulty making decisions on their own and often allow others to make decisions for them.
- Obsessive-compulsive personality disorder: People with obsessive-compulsive personality disorder are preoccupied with orderliness, perfectionism, and control. They are often inflexible and have difficulty relaxing.
