Gentamicin sulfate belongs to the aminoglycoside group of antibiotics. Cross sensitivity between aminoglycosides may occur; gentamicin should be used with caution in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to other aminoglycosides and in patients with a known hypersensitivity to sulfa.
