An aneurysm is caused by a weak artery wall that forms a balloon like structure. Most aneurysm are not diagnosed until the artery ruptures and causes bleeding. Although they can form almost anywhere, the type on aneurysm that I am going to discuss today is a brain aneurysm. It is estimated that one in every 15 people in the US will develop an aneurysm in their brain at some point in their lift.

  The most severe sign is a severe headache. This is not your typical pain, it is very severe and needs immediate attention.

  Nausea and vomiting, stiff neck with pain, blurred vision, double vision, pain in the eye area, loss of sensation, and sensitivity to light are all signs that are associated with a ruptured brain aneurysm.

  Peripheral vision deficits, problems thinking or concentrating, impaired speech, sudden behavior change, loss of balance, fatigue, and short term memory loss are symptoms that about 40 percent of patients with an unruptured brain aneurysm will experience. Some may have no signs.

  If you feel you may be in danger of having a brain aneurysm, visit your physician immediately. They will do tests such as cerebral angiography or tomographic angiography to help determine if there is a problem.
