Skydiving with a Heart Condition: Risks and Safety
It's not safe to skydive with a hole in your heart.
When you skydive, the air rushes past your body, creating a high level of air resistance. This resistance can put a strain on your heart, and cause it to beat faster than usual. If you have a hole in your heart, the high pressure can cause it to leak blood, which can be life-threatening. Additionally, the sudden change in air pressure can cause the heart to go into an irregular rhythm, which can also be dangerous.
