Symptoms of contact dermatitis include redness or inflammation of the skin, lesions of any type such as small pimples or blisters, itching and possible tenderness in the affected area. Most times, a rash appears only the area that came into contact with the allergen.
Treatment

Quit using the irritant. If necessary, a topical hydrocortisone cream may be used. In severe cases, corticosteroids may need to be administered orally.

Consumers who are allergic to cologne should focus on purchasing one that does not contain a common allergen. Common allergens include clove oil, benzyl alcohol, amylcinnamic alcohol, benzyl salicylate and limonene.
