safely taper off Nasacort (Tricorale): A Doctor-Approved Guide
Nasacort -- triamcinolone -- relieves allergy symptoms. Nasacort is prescribed by a physician and taken one to four times a day. Patients may experience headaches, sore throat or nasal dryness when taking Nasacort. Contact your doctor before stopping this medication.
Instructions
Contact your physician. Side effects may occur while tapering off Nasacort. These include swelling of nasal passages, headaches and anxiety.
Reduce Nasacort by one dose a day. If you take the drug four times, take it three. Do this for two weeks. Cut one dose every two weeks until you are no longer taking Nasacort.
Try another method. Stop administering Nasacort in one of your nostrils. Administer as usual in the other nostril. Tape the doses as described in step 2.
Use nasal opening strips if nostrils swell. Nasacort opens nasal passages. When Nasacort is not present, swelling may occur.
