Elevated Liver Enzymes & Sore Throat: Causes & Symptoms
Infectious mononucleosis, commonly known as mono, is a common contagious disease caused by the Epstein-Barr virus. It is characterized by a sore throat, fever, swollen lymph nodes, and fatigue. In some cases, it can also cause elevated liver counts.
Other possible causes of elevated liver counts with a sore throat include:
* Hepatitis A, B, or C
* Cytomegalovirus
* Herpes simplex virus
* Toxoplasmosis
* Medications, such as acetaminophen, certain antibiotics, and chemotherapy drugs
* Alcohol abuse
* Fatty liver disease
* Autoimmune disorders, such as lupus and rheumatoid arthritis
