What is lordotic chest X ray view good for?
Lordotic chest x-ray is commonly used to show the apical area of the lungs, which is not readily visible on a posteroanterior (PA) chest x-ray.- It is an excellent view for evaluation of the lung apices and upper lobes.
- It is useful for detecting apical lung lesions such as tuberculosis, malignancy, and other chest abnormalities.
- In particular, it is commonly used to evaluate for apical lung tumors, apical abscesses, apical blebs, and apical rib abnormalities.
- Another use is in the evaluation of the thoracic cage, the heart and mediastinum, the diaphragm, the soft tissues, and the bones.
