What is the most common kind of radiation therapy?
The most common form of radiation therapy used in cancer treatment is called external beam radiation therapy (EBRT). In this technique, a machine called a linear accelerator (LINAC) is used to deliver high-energy X-rays or electrons to the affected area. The LINAC produces these beams of radiation and directs them precisely at the tumor while minimizing the dose to surrounding healthy tissues. EBRT is often delivered over a series of daily or weekly sessions and can be used to treat a wide range of cancers, including those of the breast, lung, prostate, head and neck, and pelvic regions.Radiation Therapy - Related Articles
