Brachytherapy for Prostate Cancer: A Direct Radiation Therapy

The type of treatment used to treat prostate cancer by placing the radioactive elements directly into the prostate is called brachytherapy. In brachytherapy, small radioactive seeds or pellets are implanted directly into the prostate tissue, where they emit radiation that kills cancer cells. This type of treatment is also known as internal radiation therapy or seed implantation.
