Can you feel an ovarian cyst externally?
It is generally not possible to feel an ovarian cyst externally. Ovarian cysts are growths or fluid-filled sacs that develop on the ovaries. Most cysts are small and harmless, and they often go away on their own. Larger cysts can sometimes cause symptoms, such as pelvic pain, bloating, and nausea. However, these symptoms are not specific to ovarian cysts, and they can be caused by other conditions as well.
In order to diagnose an ovarian cyst, a doctor will need to perform a pelvic exam and may also order an ultrasound. An ultrasound is a painless procedure that uses sound waves to create images of the ovaries. This can help the doctor to identify any cysts and determine their size and location.
If an ovarian cyst is large or causing symptoms, it may need to be removed. This can be done surgically or through a nonsurgical procedure called laparoscopic surgery. Laparoscopic surgery is a minimally invasive procedure that involves making a few small incisions in the abdomen and using a camera to guide the instruments.
