Global Cancer Deaths: 10 Million in 2020 - IARC Report
As per the latest estimates from the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC), there were approximately 10 million cancer-related deaths worldwide in 2020. This represents a significant increase from the estimated 8.2 million deaths in 2015 and is expected to continue rising in the coming years due to factors such as population growth and aging, changes in lifestyle, and improvements in cancer screening and diagnosis.
The most common types of cancer worldwide are lung, breast, colorectal, prostate, and skin cancer. These five types of cancer account for approximately 50% of all cancer deaths globally.
Cancer continues to be a leading cause of death worldwide, and it is important for individuals to adopt healthy lifestyles, participate in regular cancer screening programs, and seek prompt medical attention for any persistent symptoms to ensure early detection and appropriate treatment.
