Bronchioles: Understanding the Number in Each Lung
The number of bronchioles in each lung varies and depends on the branching pattern of the bronchial tree. Each lung has a primary bronchus that divides into secondary bronchi, which further divide into tertiary bronchi, and so on. The tertiary bronchi then give rise to bronchioles.
Generally, there are 15-20 bronchioles in each lung. However, this number can differ from person to person and may be influenced by factors such as age, lung size, and overall lung structure.
