Extrahepatic: Definition, Location & Related Structures

Extrahepatic means "outside the liver". The liver is the largest organ in the human body and is located in the upper right abdomen. It has a variety of functions, including detoxification, protein synthesis, and bile production. Extrahepatic refers to anything that is not located within the liver itself, such as the bile ducts, gallbladder, and hepatic veins.
