Needle Sharing and Bloodborne Diseases: Understanding the Risks
Sharing needles does not directly cause leukemia but rather is a common mode of transmission for the hepatitis B virus (HBV) and hepatitis C virus (HCV).
HBV and HCV can cause chronic liver damage which might later result in liver failure or the development of hepatocellular carcinoma, a form of liver cancer. They don't lead to leukemia.
