Understanding Scant Squamous Epithelial Cells in Pap Smears: Causes & Implications
Scant squamous epithelial component means that there are few squamous cells in the sample that was collected during a Pap smear. This is typically not a cause for concern as it can simply mean that the sample was not collected properly or that the cells were shed off before the sample was taken. However, in some cases, scant squamous epithelial cells may be a sign of an underlying condition, such as a hormonal imbalance or a precancerous condition called cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). If you are experiencing any abnormal symptoms, such as irregular bleeding or pelvic pain, it is important to see your doctor for further evaluation.Cervical Cancer - Related Articles
