According to the American Cancer Society, the total cancer research funding from all sources in the United States was estimated to be $6.72 billion in 2021. This amount includes funding from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), other federal agencies, state governments, private foundations, and industry. The NCI is the largest single source of cancer research funding in the world, providing more than half of the total funding.
