Impetigo on Face: Symptoms, Causes & Treatment - A Guide for Parents
Impetigo is a common skin infection caused by bacteria. It can occur on any part of the body, including the face. Impetigo typically starts as small, red bumps that quickly turn into blisters. The blisters then break open, leaving a crusty, yellow-brown sore.
Impetigo is spread through direct contact with infected skin or objects. It is most commonly seen in children, but can also occur in adults.
Treatment for impetigo typically involves antibiotics. In some cases, the doctor may also recommend cleaning the sores with soap and water and applying a topical antibiotic ointment.
If your child has a sore on their face that looks like impetigo, it is important to see a doctor to get it diagnosed and treated. Early treatment can help to prevent the infection from spreading and causing more serious complications.
