Tick Removal With Liquid Soap
Ticks are blood-sucking insects that may cause people or pets significant harm. After biting its victim, a tick inserts its head inside the wound. Once attached, it feeds on the victim's blood. Ticks should be dealt with quickly as their bites may lead to infection or other illness. It is important to ensure that you fully remove the entire insect without leaving bits of it attached. One method of removing a tick involves the use of liquid soap.Things You'll Need
- Liquid soap
- Cotton balls
- Tweezers
Instructions
Liquid Soap Method
Apply a generous amount of liquid soap to a cotton ball.
Place the cotton ball directly on top of the tick for approximately 20 seconds.
Remove the cotton ball from infected area carefully. If the method is successful, the tick will attach itself to the cotton ball.
Apply disinfectant cream or ointment to the site of the bite to kill bacteria. Wash your hands thoroughly.
Tweezers Alternative
Grab the tick---using tweezers---as close as possible to the point where it is attached the skin.
Pull the tick directly out of the wound in a single, steady motion so that the tick's body does not break in the wound.
Apply disinfectant cream or ointment to the wound and wash your hands and the tweezers.
