Mosquito Waste: What Do Mosquitoes Excrete?
Mosquitoes do not defecate. Instead, they excrete waste products through a process called diuresis. Diuresis is the process of removing excess water and waste from the body. In mosquitoes, diuresis occurs when the Malpighian tubules, which are small tubes located in the abdomen, filter waste products from the blood. The filtered waste products are then excreted as urine through the anus.Mosquito Bites - Related Articles
