What bug lays eggs in human skin?
Botflies (Dermatobia hominis) are a type of parasitic fly that lay their eggs in the skin of humans and other mammals. The larvae of botflies grow and develop under the skin, causing a condition known as cutaneous myiasis. These flies are commonly found in tropical and subtropical regions of America.
Once the eggs hatch, the developing larvae burrow into the skin and feed on the surrounding tissue and body fluids. They grow and mature within the skin, and eventually emerge as adults. The presence of botfly larvae in the skin can cause discomfort, swelling, and inflammation, and may also lead to secondary infections.
