Understanding Insect Legs: A Guide to Tarsal Segments
The leg of an insect is made up of a number of segments. Starting from the base they are: the coxa, trochanter, femur, tibia, and tarsus. The tarsus is made up of several smaller segments, called tarsomeres. The number of tarsomeres varies depending on the species of insect.
