Medication and Home Remedies

Paul Nester of the Fire Ant Project at Texas Cooperative Extension, Harris County, recommends using an insect sting relief medication or remedy within 20 minutes of the bite. Other treatments that may help include applying a solution of half bleach and half water, or meat tenderizer, ammonia, tea tree oil or camphor.

If allergic symptoms like swelling of the throat, rapid pulse or difficulty breathing occur, immediate medical attention is required.
