Ringworm vs. Candida: Identifying Skin Infections - Symptoms & Causes
Ringworm and Candida are both common skin infections, but they are caused by different organisms and have different symptoms.
Ringworm is a fungal infection that affects the skin, hair, and nails. It is caused by a type of fungus called dermatophyte. Ringworm can spread from person to person through direct contact or contact with contaminated objects. Symptoms of ringworm include:

Candida is a type of yeast that is normally present on the skin and in the body. However, Candida can sometimes overgrow and cause an infection. Candida infections are most common in people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms of Candida infections can include:
* Red, itchy, scaly patches of skin
* White or yellow discharge
* Blisters or pustules
* Cracking or peeling skin
* Burning or stinging sensation
Treatment
Ringworm and Candida infections are both treated with antifungal medications. The type of medication that is used will depend on the severity of the infection and the location of the infection.
Prevention
There are a few things you can do to help prevent ringworm and Candida infections:
* Keep your skin clean and dry.
* Avoid sharing personal items, such as towels, combs, and brushes.
* Wear shoes in public places.
* See your doctor if you have a weakened immune system.
