Jacaranda: Meaning, Origin & Characteristics of the Stunning Tree
Jacaranda is a genus of about 50 species of flowering plants in the family Bignoniaceae, all originating in Argentina, southern Brazil, Paraguay, eastern Bolivia, and northwest Peru. Jacaranda mimosifolia (commonly known as blue jacaranda, green ebony or black poui) grows rapidly in tropical to near-tropical and warm subtropical climates around the world—as a fast-growing ornamental tree. All Jacaranda species exhibit rapid growth in early years.
The type species of the genus Jacaranda is Jacaranda cuspidifolia Mart.
