What is a Basura?

In Spanish, Basura translates directly into trash or garbage.

There are other uses of the word however.

Examples:

* En este barrio hay más basura que nunca antes (There's more garbage in this neighborhood than there ever was before)

* Me duele muchísimo llevar esta bolsa tan pesada llena de basura (This garbage bag is so heavy, it really hurts to carry it)

* La basura en la calles da mala imagen a la ciudad (The garbage in the streets gives the city a bad image).

* En algunas grandes cuidades recolectan la basura por la noche (In some big cities, they collect the trash at night)

* La basura orgánica es la que se puede compostar (Organic trash is the kind you can compost)
