When will a doctorate be required for physical therapists?

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) has set a goal for the profession to transition to a predominantly doctoral-level workforce by 2025. However, there is no current mandate or timeline from either APTA or any government entities that explicitly specifies a specific date by which a doctorate will be required to practice physical therapy.
