Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) Education: Timeline & Requirements

It typically takes seven to eight years to become a physical assistant (PA). This includes two to four years of undergraduate education and three years of graduate education at an accredited physical therapist assistant program. Once you have completed your education, you must pass the National Physical Therapist Assistant Examination (NPTAE) in order to become a licensed PA.
