What is negative supporting reaction in physiotherapy?
Negative Supporting Reaction
- Occurs when the force of gravity is greater than the supporting reaction.
- As the body is lowered towards the floor, the joint is required to work against the force of gravity to prevent collapse.
- This movement is useful for strengthening and proprioceptive training of both single and multi -joint muscles that are responsible for stabilization.
- If movement is too difficult, use more stable support surface; if too easy use a less stable surface.
