Yucca Plant Prick: Pain, Healing & When to See a Doctor
Yucca plant pricks can be painful and cause inflammation. While most yucca plant pricks will heal on their own, it is important to monitor the wound for signs of infection. If the wound does not improve after a few days, or if you experience any of the following symptoms, you should see a doctor:
- Increased pain
- Swelling
- Redness
- Drainage
- Fever
- Chills
In the meantime, there are a few things you can do to help the wound heal:
- Wash the wound with soap and water.
- Apply a bandage to protect the wound.
- Elevate the affected hand.
- Take an over-the-counter pain reliever, such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen.
If you are concerned about the wound, you should see a doctor.
