Foot Massage: Techniques & Benefits for Relaxation
The foot is the workhorse of the body, and yet it is often overlooked when getting a massage. - Leg support
- Pillow
Instructions
Position body in seated position with legs supported on pillow.
Warm up foot with gentle circular thumb strokes to the sole of the foot. Repeat several times.
Cup the sides of the foot. Gently rock hands side to side.
Support top of foot. Glide knuckles into sole of foot from the heel to the toes. Repeat several times.
Maintain support on top of foot. Glide thumb sideways across foot. Begin just below toes and end at the heel. Repeat several times.
Apply long, gliding strokes with open hand to top of the foot from the toes to the ankle. Repeat several times.
Repeat circular thumb strokes to sole of foot with decreasing pressure.
