How to Type the Ø (Slashed O) Character on Windows, Mac, and Linux

The Ø (Latin capital letter O with stroke) and ø (lowercase) are used in Danish, Norwegian, Faroese, and Southern Sami, and in mathematics/engineering.

Windows

• Alt code (numeric keypad required): Hold Alt and type 0216 (Ø) or 0248 (ø).
• US International Keyboard: Type ' then O (or o).
• Character Map: Search "Character Map," select font, find Ø, copy/paste.

Mac

• Keyboard shortcut: Option + O (Ø) or Option + o (ø).
• Character Viewer: Control + Command + Space, search "O with stroke."

Linux

• Compose key (if configured): Compose, /, O (or o).
