Symptoms of lice
- Itching. The most common symptom of lice is intense itching of the scalp, neck, and behind the ears. This itching is caused by the lice bites.
- Small, red bumps. These bumps are also caused by the lice bites. They may appear on the scalp, neck, and behind the ears.
- Nits. Nits are the eggs of lice. They are tiny, white, and oval-shaped. Nits are often attached to the hair shaft close to the scalp.
- Sores. Scratching the itchy scalp can lead to sores. These sores can become infected.
