Isoechoic Uterine Fibroids: Understanding Ultrasound Findings
Isoechoic uterine fibroids are a type of uterine fibroid that appear similar in echogenicity to the surrounding normal myometrium on ultrasound imaging. In other words, they have the same level of brightness or darkness as the normal uterine tissue on the ultrasound.
Uterine fibroids are growths of muscular tissue that develop in the wall of the uterus. Fibroids may appear hypoechoic or hyperechoic compared to myometrium (depending of their structural makeup), or isoechoic in which case other diagnostic approaches or modalities may be required.
