Optimal Water Preparation for Medicinal Herbs: A Guide
Many people don't realize that when preparing water for medicinal herbs, there are certain precautions you must take. First, you should always use distilled or purified water to reduce the amount of chemicals and possible hazardous interactions with your herbs. You also should avoid using an aluminum kettle, as it may trigger other chemical reactions and alter the medicinal properties of your herbs. When observing cautions such as these, however, boiling water for medicinal herbs is a very short and simple task.Things You'll Need
- Distilled or purified water
- Tea kettle
- Stove
Instructions
Fill the tea kettle with room-temperature distilled or purified water. Do not use an aluminum kettle as it may release chemicals into the water.
Set the full kettle on the stove and put on the lid. Use the appropriate burner for the size of the kettle.
Turn the heat to high and let it heat. When the kettle begins to whistle, the water is boiling.
Let the water reach a full boil for several minutes to eliminate any possible organisms or bacteria. It's then ready for use.
