Cider vinegar has antimicrobial properties which can help treat and prevent infections. Mix vinegar with water and apply to small cuts or scratches to disinfect them. Vinegar washes also are used by mid-wives in poor areas to screen for the human papilloma virus (HPV).

Cider vinegar may be able to kill cancer cells or slow their growth. Drinking vinegar can decrease the risk of esophageal cancer.
