Understanding Apple Cider Vinegar and Hydrochloric Acid: What You Need to Know
Apple cider vinegar has long been an alternative treatment for a variety of maladies. One of its main uses is based on the claim that it increases or helps to regulate hydrochloric acid (stomach acid) in the body, which aids in digestion and decreases heartburn. Like many claims of folk or alternative medicine, apple cider vinegar is not specifically supported by modern medicine. If you are having digestive issues, always consult your physician. However, if you notice a decrease in heartburn and overall better digestion when you take the vinegar, there's a good chance the treatment could be working. Apple cider vinegar is non-toxic in small amounts and is often taken as a health supplement.Things You'll Need

- Water
- Sweetener

Instructions
Take 2 tsp. of the apple cider vinegar three times a day mixed in a glass of water. Sip slowly rather than chugging. Take before meals to facilitate digestion, or take after meals to treat heartburn.
Increase the dose to 2 tbsp. three times a day to maximize the purported effects. Take the vinegar in a more concentrated dose by decreasing the amount of water you mix it with.
Sweeten the vinegar if you find it too sour to the palate. Try honey to start, but you can also use xylitol, which is a natural sugar substitute.
