Natural Detox Drinks: Simple Recipes for Liver Support
The body can accumulate an unhealthy level of toxic substances. Our liver is designed to flush toxins and all we need is water to keep our liver functioning. Unfortunately, with nitrates, phosphates and other unnaturally processed foods consumed today, our livers might not be able to keep up the work load. Certain fruits and vegetables can be used to detoxify the body. These foods are alkaline and help balance the levels of toxicity in the liver and bloodstream.Things You'll Need
- Apple
- Papaya
- Carrot
- Ice
- Green tea
- Blender
Instructions
Boil two cups of water in a kettle (you will only use one cup but the extra water allows for steam and spillage). Pour 8 ounces of boiled water into a cup and let it sit for 5 minutes. Put a green tea bag in the cup and let steep for 2 minutes.
Peel and core the apple and papaya. Peel the carrot. Place fruits and vegetable in a blender and puree for 5 minutes.
Add a half a cup of ice and the prepared green tea and continue to puree until smooth.
Drink this smoothie once or twice a day for a week. If you eliminate all junk food and stimulants (such as colas, coffee, Red Bull, cigarettes and alcohol) from your diet, you will feel energized, lighter and more alert by the end of the week.
