Stye Healing Time: What to Expect & When to See a Doctor
A stye typically heals within a few days to two weeks. During this time, you can expect the following:
1.Initial stage: The stye may appear as a small, red bump on the eyelid. There may be some swelling, pain, and tenderness in the area.
2.Discharge: As the stye heals, it may begin to discharge pus or other fluids. This is a normal part of the healing process and helps to clear out any infection.
3.Crusting: After the stye has drained, a crust may form over the area. This crust helps to protect the healing wound beneath.
4.Healing: The crust will eventually fall off, revealing healthy, healed skin. The entire healing process typically takes about 1-2 weeks, although some styes may take longer to heal completely.
If your stye is particularly painful or does not seem to be healing, it's a good idea to see your doctor or an optometrist for further evaluation and treatment.
